Great list. I have seen all except for 8, 9 and 10 and now plan to do so. I especially liked the fact Golden Door (La Nueva Porta) took place in my parents home town of Petralia Sottana. I once emailed the director as to why he chose Petralia Sottana but I never heard back. Anyways have you seen Seduced and Abandoned or Mafioso? Both have Sicilian themes Love to hear from you Ciao for now

Petralia Sottana is very picturesque and the countryside is very rustic, perfect to depict the harsher times of the early 20th century depicted in the the movie. No I haven’t seen Seduced and Abandoned or Mafioso but I am always on the lookout for any classics to see. I hope to make some more themed lists, perhaps something dedicated to contemporary Italian cinema. There are literally hundreds of movies released every year in Italy, keeping up with them would be a full time job. Cheers to you.
