#12 Being grateful

Hello friend,

I want to start by welcoming my new paid subscribers this week. Thank you to all of you.

I appreciate you taking the time to contribute to my newsletter.

It makes my day to think anyone would sign up to get my writing sent to them every week.

You probably don't think much about your subscription other than subscribing to a newsletter that some lady writes. While this is true, it's not nearly the complete picture. What really happens is you sign up, and the person who writes the newsletter gets a notification that you signed up.

She reads your email address and says 'woah' out loud to herself – where ever she finds herself in the world.

You put a smile on her face and Spring in her step because writing is a lonely profession.

Your subscription means she's got a new reader to keep her company, who will read her stories whether she's waiting for a flight in an empty international airport terminal or simply yelling at her teenage son. Or when she wonders why she even bothers putting one word before the other. Who knows where the words come from, they seem to flow whenever needed.

That lady is so grateful she's doing a happy dance right now.
